Standing Up In the Crib

At the age of only 7 months my baby boy, VL, has begun standing up! His sister started standing up at the age of 8 months and took her first steps at 9 months, so I guess I should have seen it coming.
I had really hoped that I could have VL as my little baby, as long as possible. I hoped he wouldn’t crawl or stand up or anything before he’d be like 8-10 months but apparently he’s rushing into things. He turned from stomach to back when he was only 3 months old and began crawling when he was 6 months! And now, if I take my eyes of him for only a second, he’s crawled to the nearest table/chair whatever and stood up!

For those of you that have children, you might remember/recognize how unbalanced they are when they’re learning to stand up. Many babies have already gotten the hang of sitting before they try standing up, but unfortunately that’s not the case with VL. Which means he falls like a timber every time he stands up!

So, now he crawls around and tries to stand up to EVERY THING! I even woke up last night and then he just stood in his crib, gnawing on it (yes, he’s teething as well). And since I can’t imagine him falling while he’s gnawing on the crib, I went online and searched for some good solutions and found one!

Go mama go Designs has these brilliant Wonder Bumpers, which are vertical crib liners made of cotton that you just zip on each crib rail! It’s so clever! You just count the crib rails and order as many as you’ll need. I have to get something like that since he sticks his hands and feet through the rails every night. I think I’ll get the Turquoise & White one or maybe the Black & White one. Or maybe both, and mix them up. What do you think?

They also have these teething guards for the crib, where there’s a guard for the top of the front and the back rail and for the top of the side rails as well! Which is exactly what I had in mind when I started searching. I think I’ll have to get one of those as well, probably the Black & White one.
