Hi you guys! Sorry I haven’t posted about the Friday date yet, it’s been a little crazy around here for the last couple of days. As some of you know, HG had the whole last week off school. What you don’t know is that VL also had a autumn break. luckily only last Thursday and Friday. Let me tell you, it was so rough! VL crawled all over the place, standing up to things that don’t have balance and cried out every ten-twenty minutes when he fell. And in between there was a constant “mommy, help me, mommy, look, mommy, I’m hungry etc.” She fought so hard with her brother about my attention (which she, by the way, had gotten completely for three whole days in a row), that I couldn’t do anything.
Unfortunately, it didn’t get any better when hubby came home. And with both the kids at home on Friday, we just didn’t have the time or energy for our date. So be it, that’s a part of being a parent, right?
Since we didn’t have a date, I want to tell you about our Halloween date from last year. HG got permission to go home from school with a friend and sleep at her place so me and hubby had the whole day to ourselves.
We went on a look out for the best and biggest pumpkin we could find, since neither of us had ever carved a pumpkin before. We parked our car down town and walked around, looking in every shop that sold pumpkins. When we had walked almost across down town, we finally found two huge pumpkins, exactly like we had pictured them! We walked out of the shop with the biggest smile on our lips, until we remembered that we had to walk for 20 minutes to get to the car. Our smiles fainted a bit, but we’re Icelandic Vikings so we didn’t let that stop us.
Hubby, the gentleman, couldn’t let me hold mine, since I have back problems, so he carried both of them (in way to small bags) all the way to the car. When we came home, we found every type of knives, spoons we had. Basically everything we could thing of that would be useful and started carving.
We had a blast! It was so much fun. We put on some good music, had no idea what we were doing but it was fun and in the end, worked just fine. Here are a couple of pictures.
Although I haven’t had that much time, I’ve still found 10 autumn date ideas to share with you guys. Hope you enjoy them!
